Spring Boot is an open-source Java framework for building standalone, production-grade applications and services with minimal configuration. It provides auto-configuration, an embedded web server, health and metrics endpoints through Actuator, and a large ecosystem of starters. This package deploys the official Maven image with JDK 21 and bootstraps a default Spring Boot demo project into a persistent workspace volume on first start. The demo exposes a root endpoint, a JSON `/hello` endpoint, and `/actuator/health`. Developers can exec into the container, edit the code under `/workspace`, run `mvn test`, and package the application. Typical use cases include REST APIs, microservices, internal tools, and as a hands-on workspace for learning and prototyping Spring Boot applications.
