Next.js is the React framework maintained by Vercel for building full-stack web applications with routing, rendering, data fetching, and deployment tooling. This package provides a self-hosted runtime environment for Next.js projects instead of a finished business app. On first startup, if the mounted source directory is empty, the package scaffolds a default Next.js 16.3.5 project with create-next-app. When a user later uploads their own Next.js project source into the mounted app directory, the container automatically detects the package manager, installs dependencies, builds the project, and starts it with `next start`. Typical use cases include development sandboxes, customer-owned runtime environments, internal app hosting, and managed self-hosting where users want to upload already-developed Next.js code and run it without preparing a custom Docker image first.
