Hermes Agent is a self-improving autonomous AI agent built by Nous Research. It runs as a persistent gateway and can be reached from a web dashboard, an OpenAI-compatible API, or 20+ messaging platforms such as Telegram, Discord, Slack, and WhatsApp. The agent maintains long-term memory, creates and refines reusable skills, searches its own past conversations, and schedules unattended tasks with a built-in cron engine. This package deploys the official nousresearch/hermes-agent image as a single container. All state — configuration, sessions, memories, skills, and logs — is persisted in the hermes_agent_data volume mounted at /opt/data, so the image can be upgraded without losing data. The dashboard is published on port 9119 with password authentication, and the OpenAI-compatible API server is available on port 8642 once an LLM provider key is configured. Typical use cases include a personal AI assistant reachable from chat apps, an autonomous task runner on a small VPS, and an OpenAI-compatible backend for tools such as Open WebUI or LobeChat.
